Google Pixel Slate M3 Review
The Google Pixel Slate M3 offers a good software experience for a tablet but has some drawbacks. One of the biggest is the keyboard case, which makes the tablet inherently unusable on anything other than a flat surface. It is also too thick to fit onto most airplane trays, and its fabric kickstand is challenging to balance. As a result, the tablet needs to be a better laptop experience.
Screen brightness
The Pixel Slate’s screen is a 12.3-inch display covered by Corning’s Gorilla Glass 5. Its 3:2 aspect ratio and a maximum brightness of 400 nits make it an excellent choice for reading, watching videos, or playing games. The screen also has good contrast, which helps it display bright colours and sharp details. Like the Pixelbook, it is compatible with the Pixelbook Pen stylus for enhanced drawing and writing.
The Google Pixel Slate’s display has a 0.2-nit black level. Its maximum brightness is 363.5 nits, and has a 1473:1 contrast ratio. It also covers 94% of the sRGB colour gamut. The screen temperature is slightly cool at 6725k.
Keyboard
The keyboard on the Google Pixel Slate is designed to work well with the tablet. It features a circular layout and provides more separation between the individual keys. The keyboard also has a dedicated number row, Google Assistant buttons and other controls for volume and screen brightness. The keyboard is compatible with Apple Pencil and is available for $99 as an accessory.
The keyboard is easy to use and offers good travel. The keyboard also has backlit keys and draws power from the tablet’s magnetic connector. Its screen has a 12.3-inch diagonal and is HDR-compatible. Its screen is perfect for viewing videos and movies.
Price vs i5
Consider the price if you’re wondering what the difference is between the Core m3 and i5 versions of the Google Pixel Slate. The cheaper one costs $799, while the more expensive one costs $999. There are also differences in storage capacity between the two models – 256GB for the i5 model and 128GB for the m3 version.
The base Pixelbook is available for $599 and includes a processor based on Intel’s Celeron. It has four GB of RAM and a 32GB hard drive. A mid-tier model with more RAM and storage costs $799. A higher-end model costs $1599 and comes with a pen and keyboard.
External device support
The Google Pixel Slate m3 features an 8th-generation Intel Core m3 processor and a 64GB solid-state drive. However, despite its powerful hardware, there are better choices for heavy-duty computing tasks. We suggest you look for a more powerful tablet, such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 LTE.
The Pixel Slate m3 is equipped with one of four processors from Intel based on the Amber Lake microarchitecture. The processors are fabricated on 14nm++ processes and draw about 5W. By comparison, the Surface Pro 6 line costs $749 and comes with quad-core processors based on the Whiskey Lake microarchitecture. The Apple iPad Pro (2018) comes with a custom-designed seven-nanometer chip called the A12X Fusion.
External device support for google pixel slate: A USB-C port is included for charging and connecting external storage. The tablet has two USB Type-C ports on its left and right sides and two on the bottom. These ports are also helpful for plugging in headphones. Since there is no headphone jack on the Pixel Slate, these ports come in handy.
